BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma (now suspended) made derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad on a news channel leading to the widespread protest across nation. Similar protest was organized in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh on 10th June 2022. Protest turned violent after stone pelting. Saharanpur police detained around 85 people, reported BBC. After the detention of muslin men, a video went viral after it was shared by elected official from BJP, Shalabh Tripathi. The video clearly depicts the brutual thrashing of dozen of muslim men by two police men with batons. So far police had denied of any such incident. Akash Tomar, senior police officer told BBC he is working to verify the surfaces video for authencity and will take actions if required.
