Gulnaz Khatoon – 20 years old- from Rasulpur Habib, Vaishali District Bihar was burnt alive while she was resisting molester Satish Kumar Rai. In a video, shared on various Social Media, the victim’s mother – Maimoona Khatoon – reported that Satish Kumar Rai had given a death threat to the victim a day before the incident. She also alleges the role of Satish’s associate Chandan Kumar Rai in the attack. Perpetuators of crime had asked the victim to marry him. Refusal to the proposal, stating, as reported by victim’s younger sister Gulshan Parveen that “the accused had been stalking and sexually harassing her sister for the last three-four months and bringing pressure on her to marry Satish Rai. They killed her because she refused”. It is reported that the crime took place on the 30th of October 2020 during the evening at 6 pm when the victim was out to throw the garbage away. Perpetuator – Satish had, as Gulshan reports, poured kerosene over her (victim) and set ablaze her with a match stick. The victim succumbed on the 15th of November in PMCH Patna, where she had been transferred from Samprabhu Hospital in nearby Hajipur. The victim’s mother said that in spite of 17 days had been passed; the police had failed to take any action against the accused. SHO Firoz Hussain had lodged the FIR in Desari Police Station.
