Yati Maharaj makes communal remarks at rally

On 22 December 2019 Yati Narasimhanand Saraswati Maharaj, the National Convenor of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Parishad, and who is known for spreading hatred made a communally charged hate speech at a pro-CAA/pro-NRC rally at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The rally was organised by Updesh Rana Youth Brigade. At the rally he used abusive language against the Muslim community and said that after the implementation of the National Register of Citizens the government must bring in population control measures to limit the population of the Muslim community. He said that Muslims were contaminating the population of the country. He threatened members of the Muslim community by saying "These Muslims who are coming out in large numbers don’t know what their condition would be if we Hindus come out in large numbers” referring to the nation-wide anti-CAA/anti-NRC protests. All during his speech he made communally charged remarks. The crowd supporting the Maharaj also shouted the slogans of "Desh ke gaddaro ko, goli maaro saalon ko", referring again to the protesters who are protesting all over the country against the CAA and NRC.
