Patna college bans Burqa

On January 22nd, 2020, a college in Patna, JD Women's College brought out a notice banning Burqa inside college premises. It read: "All students have to come to college in the prescribed dress code, every day except on Saturday. Muslim students are specially prohibited from wearing 'burqa' in college. A fine of Rs 250 will be imposed for violation." On facing public scrutiny and to avoid controversy the Principal Shyama Roy said that they had withdrawn the campus Burqa ban and students were allowed to wear the Burqa inside the college but not in the classrooms.
