Chicken shop belonging to Hasan Sab and his wife Afsana Hasan Sab Khureshi in Yamanapur, 6 km from the Belgaum city in Karnataka, was vandalized on the 8th of October. On the 18th of October 2021, it came to notice when a video went viral on Twitter. As per the report in Indian Express, the couple was not in the shop when it got vandalized by the local right-wing group. As reported in Express, they added that there was an opening of a new Temple in the area. Although there was no direction from the district administration, the right-wing group had asked to close the meat shops before 11 am. Afsana added that they did close their shops before that. By afternoon they had sent two of their workers to clean the shop, and then only the right-wing group assaulted the workers and vandalized the shop. On hearing this, both Hasan Sab and his wife Afsana rushed to the shop where they were threatened. Afsana toldIndian Express.
They later went to the police station to complain, but the police refused to file one. "My husband was totally shocked. I approached the local police who held a 'compromise' meeting even though I had asked them to take action against the goons. The police told us that they had 'settled the matter and would not intervene in our business and told us that there was no need to file a complaint," Afsana added. After the video went viral, according to Afsana, another meeting was convened by police, but no complaint or action was initiated.
