Kashmiri inmates thrashed in Punjab jail

On 12th June, 2020, Sajad Hussain and Irshad Ahmad were harassed by the other inmates in Barrack 2, Gurdaspur, Punjab. They were stripped naked, beaten and humiliated. They were allegedly called "terrorists" because of their identity as Kashmiri Muslims and threatened with grave consequences. Both of them were also stopped from offering "namaz" and made to do menial jobs for other inmates. Such incident was taken up by their lawyer Ankit Grewal and was reported to the jail authorities but they downplayed the situation stating that "verbal duels" were normal in jail.
