JNU Student Attacked, Missing Since October 2017

Najeeb Ahmed was a first year M.Sc Biotech student of JNU, where he was attacked on the night of 14th October 2016, and subsequently went missing the next morning. Eyewitnesses saw him being assaulted by students they recognized as ABVP members, who alleged that he had attacked them first, unprovoked.They took him to the hostel warden, where he was pronounced guilty without due inquiry. He spoke to his mother at night and asked her to come see him as something was wrong, and remained in contact with her till next morning. When she arrived from Badaun, he was missing. Eyewitnesses have also alleged that they heard the attackers make communally charged derogatory comments. He left behind all his personal belongings. The case was initially being handled by the Delhi Police but has been transferred to the CBI recently.
