5 farmers killed in Mandsaur in police firing

Farmers in Mandsaur district of MP were protesting for a week demanding loan waiver and fair price for their produce. This led to violent clashes between the police and the farmers. 5 farmers were killed and a few injured in firing by the police as admitted by Home Minister Bhupendra Singh. As the protests increased in order to calm down the situation, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced more sops for the farmers. The government also announced that a commission would be set up to fix a formula to ensure a fair price for crops by deducting agricultural costs.
